About us:

Jeanne & Dave Cockcroft opened their balloon store April of 1995 in the Evergreens Shopping Center in Westlake Village, Ca. Jeanne had been a Florist since she was a teenager. She learned the art of flower arranging from her parents and grandmother who had a flower shop in Wheatland, Wyoming where she grew up. When Jeanne moved to California in 1976 she worked for several local florists and finally began working out of her home doing flowers and balloons.

Once Balloon Designs by Jeanne was open Jeanne began working on a course of study from the Qualatex Balloon Network and earned the designation of Certified Balloon Artist (CBA). This really made the company more knowledgeable in the field of balloon art. The experience they gained from years of doing balloon arches, columns, sculptures, bouquets and are invaluable along with the education they have gotten from seminars and conferences the couple has attended over the last 12 years. See Press Release archive.

In 1999 Balloon Designs by Jeanne moved their store right on to Thousand Oaks Blvd. in a very busy section of town. They had a very large front window that they decorated with every kind of balloon sculpture and art you can think of. You can see some of the displays through out this web site and on the Balloonhq.com. (See the home page) The City of Thousand Oaks ran a Holiday Window display contest for a couple of years and the store won first place 2 years in a row. Customers said that they used to drive past the store just to see what new creation was on display next. Many times cars full of children and adults would pull over to gaze into the window for the sheer enjoyment of seeing the balloon displays.

In 2006 Balloon Designs moved again. They are now located in Agoura Hills. It was a hard decision to make as they all liked the store on T.O. Blvd. The business had grown so much that more space was needed to create the size of jobs that were being done almost every weekend in the small work area the store had. The new location has a large warehouse in the back with very high ceilings to accommodate the many sculptures, bouquets, columns and work the company creates weekly. The front has a consultation area and showroom. Customers are welcome to come to the shop and see samples, look at pictures in the albums or on the computer.

Jeanne’s daughter, Alisha works for the couple and in 2004 she earned her CBA. Alisha has been with them from the start as their Singing Balloongram girl, balloon artist, consultant for client orders and resident balloon writer. Alisha does outstanding personalization on balloons by hand writing with colored balloon markers on many kinds of balloons. She has become well known for her work in this area. Clients ask for her by name for their custom balloon work.

Dave’s background is mechanical. He was a Seabee in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He retired in 1993 and married Jeanne in 1994. He quickly learned how to do balloons and knew right away how to make frames and the mechanical things needed for balloon sculptures. He also works for the Conejo Unified School District as a night custodian at Sequoia Intermediate School in Newbury Park. He is a great asset to the balloon business and to the students at Sequoia School when they need help with balloons!

Proud member of the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce
